Wiston Castle Ruins

Highlight • Viewpoint

Wiston Castle is recognised as one of the best-preserved motte-and-bailey castles in Wales. It's thought that Wiston Castle was probably originally built by an early Flemish settler with the unusual and very cool name of Wizo.
There are no visitor facilities here. Steps lead up to the stone shell keep (approx 4m high), with great views of the Preselis to the North.

Llawhaden Castle

Highlight • Historical Site

Llawhaden is a little known castle-cum-mansion that is sure to stay in your memory. Most impressive of all is the front of the gatehouse, added in the later 14th century, still standing to its full height. Cycling isn't permitted on the access road to the castle, so you will need to park & lock-up your bike at the car park and walk the final few hundred metres to the castle itself.

Mynydd Carningli, (meaning something along the lines of "Rocky Summit of the Angels") is a really beautiful hill to summit, affording fantastic views across Dinas Head and Newport. You'll gain just over 200 metres in approx 3km. It's worth it!

Despite the awful weather, wind & heavy rain, for the first half of the ride, we ended up having a very successful event. The sun finally making an appearance for the finish, so at least we could sit, dry out & enjoy a few sociable beers together 🍻🍻
We managed to raise a sizeable sum for Shalom House Palliative Care …

A fantastic day. Rode with Nick Chilton all the way round. Carried spare inner tubes to provide mechanical support which thankfully weren’t required.
We had a great feed station halfway round & a lovely chilli at the finish, topped off with a refreshing pint of beer😉

A great ride in aid of The West Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group. Nearly 80 riders took part, starting & finishing at a brewery!! Perfect👍👍
A fantastic feed zone at the halfway point, rounded off with a couple of pints & some chilli at the finish👍👍
