Logan Rock and Treryn Dinas Iron Age Cliff Castle

Highlight • Historical Site

Logan Rock takes its name from a famous 80-ton rocking stone that sits high in the rocky cairn above honey cliffs and turquoise seas. The boulder used to rock back and forth if a small amount of pressure was applied in the right place. But in 1824 a group of sailors dislodged it, sending the rock crashing to the sea below. After much outcry from the locals, the sailors were ordered to replace it at their own cost, which took nearly seven months. The bills for the work and drawings of the procedure can be seen in the Logan Rock Inn in Treen.

Minack Theatre

Highlight • Monument

The iconic Minack Theater is a unique open-air venue, perched on a cliff. It was created by Rowena Cade, who spent her life designing and building the structures you see here today.
The Minack is both a working theater and a tourist attraction. When there are no performances, it is open for visitors. Advance booking is recommended for all visits and events to avoid disappointment.

On this site stood the wooden hut where the submarine telegraph cable ended that was laid from Brest in 1880 by CS Faraday for La Compagnie Française du Télégraphe de Paris based in New York.
The cable connected Ireland to the Americas via the company's transatlantic cable from Brest, laid the year before.
In 1912 the cable end was moved to the Eastern Telegraph Company hut lower on the cliff at Porthcurno, where it remained in use until 1942.
The Eastern Telegraph Company, founded in 1872, played a key role in communications with India. It operated the cable laid by Brunel's steamship The Great Eastern from Bombay to Suez. From Suez the cable joined the Falmouth, Gibraltar and Malta Telegraph Company's cable to Porthcurno via Malta.

Breathtaking views over Pedn Vounder, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall. The turquoise seas and sandy lagoon are overlooked by steep granite cliffs.

Teryn Dinas rocks, the rocky headland to the East of the beach was the site of an Iron Age cliff castle, and is home to the famous Logan rock.
