South-east of the town of Santa Croce, on the top of Mount San Primo (278 m asl), there is the lookout dedicated to one of the most important Italian intellectuals of the early twentieth century: Scipio Slataper. From its top you can admire a splendid panorama of the Gulf of Trieste and the Miramare Castle.

The current structure, on whose terrace there is a wind rose, was erected in 1956 by SE.L.A.D. (Section Work Unemployed Assistance), a body of Civil Engineering created after the Second World War. The historic "Napoleon Street" leads from the San Nazario car park at the southern end of the village of Prosecco, above Miramare Castle, approx. 300 meters above sea level, approx. 4 km long to the obelisk above Trieste.

Opicina Obelisk
