Burbage Moor Hill Climb

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great road up to the top of Burbage and Stanage. Amazing views over the hope valley and up to Stanage edge. It's also a reliably brilliant spot for a sunset watching.

View of Stanage Edge from North Lees Road

Highlight • Natural Monument

This road, North Lees, is a quiet and beautiful lane running along the lower slopes of Stanage Edge near Hathersage.

It runs parallel to the Edge and can be accessed via the climb 'The Dale' from the village to the south, or via Bamford village to the west.

Derwent Reservoir

Highlight • Cycleway

Sight of the dambusters practice missions. The routes around all three reservoirs are ideal for active families or the less fit/ambitious biker. stunning scenery. When you reach the very northern point there is a bridge. Either go over this and return on the other side of the reservoirs or ride through the river into Narnia 😜

Derwent Dam East Tower

Highlight • Monument

Quiet place at the foot of the dam. Here you can rest on a couch and have something to drink or eat (if you brought it with you).

Along the eastern edge of Ladybower Reservoir, the track is gravel rather than a single lane road as is found on the opposite side. It's fairly flat with only gentle climbs and a few gates along the way. During the winter there can be a few puddle-filled potholes – watch out!

Long Causeway Gravel Trail

Highlight • Trail

This superb gravel trail links Redmires Reservoirs and Stanage Edge with untold riding opportunities in Hope Valley, Ladybower and beyond. From Stanage, you descend into a heart-melting view of the Peak District set below the rugged gritstone escarpment.

The compacted-gravel isn’t too technical. But watch out for the drainage ditches that cross the path, as they could cause a problem on a rigid bike if you hit them at speed while busy admiring the view.
