The Estanque peat bogs

Highlight • Natural

The peat bog is a very special environment, made up of waterlogged plants whose residues accumulate to form peat. It is the habitat of several protected species: the Fadet des Laiches, a rare butterfly that flies from mid-June to mid-July. But also several carnivorous plants, the best known of which is Drosera. One of the streams feeding the bog is also home to the Agrion de Mercure, a small blue dragonfly very sensitive to water quality.
Classified as a natura 2000 zone, a path on stilts has been laid out to discover this wetland that was once common in our region but is now endangered.
