The climb is a bit more strenuous in the upper third, but the climb is worth it.

After a short steep climb, e.g. on this route komoot.de/tour/163158927/embed? you have a great view of the valley and the southern Penya del Rafalet. Most of the trail is paved. The last 400 meters the path is roughly paved and a little more strenuous to walk. You can buy small snacks in the monastery kitchen. Barbecuing and picnicking is also allowed on the premises.

Just a few hundred meters from the monastery is the Mirador del Molí Vell. The view from the mill ruins is magnificent: it stretches from the Serra del Cavall Bernat, the Vall de Bóquer valley, the Serra d'Albercutx, to the El Fumat mountain on the Formentor peninsula. Also impressive are the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia, with the Sa Victòria and Ferrutx peninsulas, as well as the beaches of Es Comú, Can Picafort, and Son Serra de Marina.

Calvari Street

Highlight (Segment) • Monument

The Calvary not only offers an incomparable view of Pollença, but is also one of the most emblematic places, thanks to the impressive staircase for the staircase. Consisting of 365 stages, one for each day of the year, it is flanked by the cypresses of 14 crosses three meters high, reminiscent of the martyrdom of Jesus on the way to Golgotha, where he was crucified.

January 3, 2026,Mallorca - Tramuntana (N): Klosterberg Puig de Maria
This hike begins on the southern outskirts of Pollença. The Puig de Maria monastery, a prominent landmark visible from afar, rises from the plain. Perched atop the mountain, the monastery dates back to the 14th century. It was founded by nuns who, along with an attached school, soon established it as the most important convent in Mallorca.

First, climb Puig de Maria, where there's an old abandoned monastery.
The path is steep, and the last third is very rocky.
Unfortunately, there's no refreshment at the top, so bring plenty of water! The last third offers little shade.

Then climb Calvary Hill in Pollença with its 365 steps.
Opposite, you can clearly see Puig de Maria.

Like Alcudia and Fornalutx, Pollença is part of the association of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca. From the stately Plaça Maior, the path soon leads us towards Calvary, where we climb 365 steps to a small chapel. We are rewarded with a beautiful view over Pollença - at least in theory. In fact, the view is more than gloomy …

A hike up the Puig Maria with a visit to the Santuaria de la Mare de Deu del Puig church, where you can also get a drink and sleep, is a wonderful way to acclimatise. It is not lonely here and the path is well known.

A very nice tour from the historic old town to Puig de Maria, an old monastery that is unfortunately no longer open to visitors.
The tour mostly leads up the mountain in the shade, so it's also possible on a sunny day. 👌 The view is fantastic and highly recommended. 😎👍

Our last day on Mallorca was a perfect end to this trip. The day began in Pollenca, a charming town with winding streets and a lively atmosphere. At the market, we strolled among the colorful stalls, enjoying the scent of fresh fruit, spices, and local specialties. Of course, we also had to pick up a few souvenirs.

A very nice short tour with a great view. The monastery is very beautiful and well preserved. In front of the parking lot from which we started the tour, there is another parking lot a little further ahead.

Short but steep hike with great views. Unfortunately, the monastery was not managed
