Kocher Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

The footbridge leads over the river as part of the Kochertal cycle path. A railway bridge of the Kochertalbahn between Bad Friedrichshall and Oedheim used to be here. In 2008 the old bridge was demolished and rebuilt as a bicycle and pedestrian bridge.

Bad Wimpfen–Jagstfeld Railway Bridge

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

You can take the time to let your gaze wander from the bridge. Beautiful view of Bad Wimpfen and Jagstfeld.
From and to Friedrichshall it is steep and narrow uphill/downhill, so be extremely careful there. There is a sharp and narrow bend on the Wimpfen side, be careful!

A start, but it only makes sense once the bridge is started/completed.
On the other hand, a lot of nature has been and is being sacrificed.

Here you can sit down and enjoy the view of Bad Wimpfen and the Neckar. Really idyllic.

View of Bad Wimpfen's Old Town

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bad Wimpfen is located on the left bank of the Neckar about 10 km north-northwest of Heilbronn, as the crow flies. Its older part, Wimpfen im Tal, runs along the river in its left-hand floodplain, which is quite wide. A little west of there is Wimpfen am Berg on the upper slope to the left of the river valley that rises towards the Kraichgau. There, in the Middle Ages, the Staufer Palatinate and the mountain town were built on an eastern spur above the slope of the river below, which turns north, and the small side valley of the Adamsgraben, which tapers bluntly from the southwest. The newer parts of the city spread out on a flatter slope, especially to the west.

Bad Wimpfen also includes the suburb of Hohenstadt, two kilometers to the northwest, which is located on the left slope of a slightly larger side valley that runs east towards the Neckar.

With the exception of a tiny gap at the mouth of the Jagst opposite Wimpfen in the valley, the urban area of Wimpfen lies to the left of the Neckar and is mostly on undulating land about 200-250 meters high. There is only a narrow strip of forest on the Neckar slope, as well as somewhat larger forest islands on the northern and western city limits. The majority of this hilly plain drains directly to the Neckar via small valleys. Only in the southwest do some watercourses beyond the city limits initially flow to the Böllinger Bach, a slightly longer tributary of the Neckar.

View of Bad Wimpfen

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bad Wimpfen is very beautiful and worth seeing, thanks to its medieval charm. The city wall, the Blue Tower in the old town, its lovely restaurants, and cozy shops are all worth a visit and a stop. There's a charging station and service point for bicycles at the train station. The Christmas market is a particular highlight every year.

Mouth of the Jagst at the Neckar

Highlight (Segment) • River

The estuary is rather inconspicuous. The last few meters of the Jagst flow into the Neckar between Jagstfeld and Vad Wimpfen after about 200 km.

On the outskirts of Kochendorf and directly on the Kocher cycle path is the former northern station of the Lower Kocher Valley Railway, which has now been converted into a kiosk and restaurant.
The food and drink is decent and you can sit fairly comfortably in the small beer garden. It is quite suitable as a stopover and a quick place to have a drink or a snack, even if there is a busy road right next door.
Overall, it is definitely recommended.
