Brecht-Weigel House

The Brecht-Weigel-Haus Buckow has been a memorial site for Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel since 1977. The artist couple had chosen the location as their summer residence since 1952. Bertolt Brecht wrote the "Buckower Elegien" here in 1953.
After Brecht's death in 1956, Helene Weigel continued to invite many guests here and used the estate for recreation alongside her Berlin apartment until her death in 1971. Since 1998, the memorial site has hosted a literary summer every year with readings, song afternoons, concerts, discussion rounds, debates, films, and exhibitions.

Between Buckowsee and Schermützelsee, the town has one of its attractions, but today was a ceramics market. Could it have been just the pottery that made this little paradise seem lively and popular today? A midweek visit certainly puts my impression into perspective.
