Lake Förchensee

Highlight • Lake

The Forchensee invites you to linger, especially when the sun is shining. The play of colors in the water, depending on the position of the sun, is very impressive.

Röthelmoos Plateau

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Röthelmoosalm area is a registered geotope known as Röthelmoos. The alpine pasture is framed by the Hochgern and Hochfelln mountains to the north, the Sulzgrabenkopf to the east, and the Hörndlwand to the southeast.

The pasture is still used for agriculture, and the Dandl and Langerbaueralm alpine pastures are managed. At the northern end of the pasture is the Röthelmoosklause (Röthelmoos Dam). The dam is fed by the Röthelmoosbach stream, which originates to the south and flows through the pasture. The water of the Röthelmoosbach was dammed at the dam to float timber down to the valley, where it was needed for construction and, above all, firewood at the Traunstein saltworks.

Very nice tour, lots of shade, ideal for hot weather, 75 km remaining battery

Showing Translation

Visited our friend Christiane in Ruhpolding again for Ascension Day. She was on tour herself, so after we had cuddled the kittens, we set off straight away. Via Brand behind to Eschelmoosklause, the climb is not as steep as directly to Röthelmoosalm, but longer.

Lots of cyclists, mostly e-bikers.
