March 8, 2024,Haidel und ein Bisserl "Lost Places" Feeling
In an icy easterly wind, the kind that bites your ears and nose, we climbed the observation tower on the Haidel. It was really tough, but the view of the frozen landscape made up for it.
We did the tour several years ago, but there was an event in Leopoldsreut with a lot of people... Today, however, we were all …

A beautiful, varied, and easy trail. Great views from the tower. Hardly any other hikers on the trail (end of April 2025).

Showing Translation

Today, we took a hike from Herzogsreut to the Haidel observation tower. At 1,166 meters, the Haidel is the highest elevation in the immediate area. From its approximately 35-meter-high observation tower, you have a fantastic panoramic view.

A fantastic hike, highly recommended.

Showing Translation

After the climb you reach the observation tower on the Haidel summit at 1167 m above sea level. On the other side lies the abandoned village of Leopoldsreut where only the former chapel remains.
