Throwley Old Hall

Highlight • Historical Site

Throwley Old Hall is a grade II listed ruined stately home. There is evidence of an important house here since the 12th century but the current ruin dates to the early 16th century. It was lived in until 1877 when the Parramore family moved to Australia.
Today it's still privately owned and you can't really explore the ruin. You can see it from the path though and it's an interesting walk past.

Throwley Old Hall Ruins

Highlight • Monument

Throwley Old Hall is a historic ruin located near the village of Calton, next to the River Manifold in north-east Staffordshire. The site is a Grade II* listed building and a scheduled monument, currently under private ownership. The house is two stories high, with a three-story square tower positioned at its north-east corner. The building is aligned from north-east to south-west.

Stone Bridge Near Grindon

Highlight • Bridge

I took this route from Grindon back to Wetton as the footpaths were so muddy it made the footing difficult.
Great views from a quiet road walk.

Thor's Cave

Highlight • Cave

The views alone are worth the trek up, especially those past the cave and up at the cloud. You'll need a buddy to help you scramble the last section into the cave entrance if you're attempting it on a rainy/snowy day - it gets very slippery.
