Königsseer Ache

Highlight • River

Super nice bike path along the Königsseer Ache. Away from the busy road, the path leads through the forest and even if it is not asphalted, you can drive on it without any problems.

Boathouses on Lake Königssee

Highlight • Structure

Boatyard Koenigssee:
The part of the company with the highest turnover employs around 80 people. All 19 passenger boats have been powered purely electrically since 1909. The electricity for this comes from the batteries in the hull of the boat. In order for the boats to be able to operate for a whole day, the batteries must be charged overnight.

During the winter months, the employees in the driving service work in their trained professions as boat builders, joiners, carpenters, painters, electricians, saddlers or locksmiths. Then the boats are repaired or rebuilt. The boats, which are predominantly made of wood, but also the 16 huts covered with wooden shingles require a high financial and personnel repair effort. However, this is often used in order to preserve the characteristics and charm of the lake in the national park.

The train service at Königssee is all year round.

Königssee Boat Pier

Highlight • Rest Area

From here by boat to the Saletalm or St. Bartholomä. The ships stop in the middle of the lake and play the echo for the passengers with the trumpet.

Today we hiked to Königssee in royal temperatures 🙋‍♀️🍀☺

Start at Berchtesgaden train station. Along the Königseer Ache it goes almost imperceptibly uphill to the Königsee. Panoramic views of the Kehlsteinhaus, the Jenner and the Watzmann with his family open up again and again. Arriving at the Königsee, it is worth making a detour to the bobsleigh run.

Arrival and departure by public transport.
Beautiful mountain panorama. The path always follows the Königssee Arche. It roars loudly and cools the surroundings.
Masses of tourists at the lake, reminiscent of Hallstatt.

Fourteen days of vacation - once again over like a blink of an eye 😳! So the farewell hike of our first and certainly not last stay in the Berchtesgadener Land was already on the agenda. The weather said goodbye to us in a somewhat forgiving way: Dry with a hint of blue sky, but no mountain peaks in sight🏔️.

Always nice to walk along the Ache 😃, whether to the lake or back

The 3 weeks passed again like in Fluuuge. But now I'm also happy when I'm home again. Somehow you almost always say that at the end of a vacation, right? 😃
During this holiday I only hiked a total of 298 kilometers, although I still have 43 kilometers to run.
My annual hiking account has so far shown 899km, so …

Admittedly, the course of the route does not look very appealing, since the way there and back are close together or are identical. But if you turn right at the big roundabout at the station "wrong", you walk unintentionally, but all the more panoramic on the Salzalpensteig above the Ache to the south. Soon after, the path leads along the …

We're back: Schönau am Königssee ♥️. When we arrived yesterday we had over 800km of continuous rain. Same thing this morning: but staying at home was out of the question for us - rain gear on and off.
After checking on the autumnal Königssee, we walked along the Königsseer footpath to Berchtesgaden. We've walked this path so many times, but …
