September 14, 2025,Schwarzenbruck ⛴️ Ludwig-Donau-Main-Kanal und Schwarzachklamm 💦🪨
We used our last day in Nuremberg today to do a hike in the Nuremberg region that's been declared a top hike. Starting in Schwarzenbruck, we explored the Schwarzach River. This included the very impressive Schwarzach Gorge, the "thousand" locks on the Ludwig-Main-Danube Canal, and the wild Schwarzenbruck moorland. At first, we were showered, but then the skies cleared for …

Family tour near Nuremberg with pleasant temperatures. Top level and recommended for all age groups. The way back through the forest is nice too. At the end there was an ice cream on the Plärrer.

In drizzly weather, the Schwarzachklamm can still be walked through without major crowds. The old LMD canal is also not very busy... but the 🍺garden at the end of the Schwarzachklamm was open and two places were available 😎and on the way back too :)

We start the tour at the hiking car park on the Brück Canal (GPS 49.355071, 11.207089).
First to Schwarzach down into the Schwarzachklamm to the Schwarzach breakthrough, with rock formations, footbridges, caves, springs and a wild and romantic landscape.

See the Petzsche and Faberschloss. Walk on quiet paths through the pine forest to the Ludwig-Danube Canal (old canal), a little …

From the Ludwig-Main-Danube Canal with its many sweet locks we went through a special forest characterized by sand and high heather bushes, past 2 castles towards the Schwarzachklamm. This gorge is incredibly beautiful, simply wild nature! There are lots of caves and rock formations to marvel at. In Gsteinach you go out of the gorge for a moment and get …

We've already walked this route many times, so I didn't plan it via Komoot and we promptly turned off the canal too late and ended up in the industrial area of Ochenbruck. We found the path through the gorge today to be extremely beautiful, even if the path at the end was quite muddy in places.

At the Old Canal, it is better to turn left 200m beforehand and through the forest in the direction of Faberschloss (Wildmeistersteig - marking Blauer Punkt), otherwise you have to go through an industrial area and along the B8 in Ochenbruck.

Today was the day: my 500th hike since 2021 😍
And for an anniversary like this, you naturally choose something very special. I actually had other plans, but the weather said no. Then I spontaneously thought of the Schwarzachklamm Gorge; I'd wanted to go there for a while. It was unfortunately quite busy, but I absolutely loved the gorge; it …
