We actually wanted to go to Vila Real de Santo Antonio (on the Rio Guadiana, the border river between Spain and Portugal)...
Dark rain clouds and a few raindrops forced us to go on a city tour of Tavira instead...

The tour uses the Ecovia cycle path for long stretches. You can skip the detour to Vila Nova Cacela. The paths in the salt pans are partly sandy and narrow and you often have to push your bike.
