Waldschmidthaus (1,360 m)

The Waldschmidthaus is located just below the summit of the Großer Rachel mountain. This mountain refuge owes its name to Maximilian Schmidt, also known as Waldschmidt. Built in 1912 by the Spiegelau section of the Bavarian Forest Association, the Waldschmidthaus became privately owned in 1920.
