Cycle Path Between Farchant and Oberau

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A beautiful, long, narrow, and at times busy cycle and footpath, but the scenery is fantastic. The path is perfectly flat and, while it's pothole-free, there are a few willow rusts along the way. It's definitely better than riding on the very narrow and busy country road. It's also really fun to cycle from Farchant towards Oberau, as the path winds through nature with quite a few long, and sometimes tight, bends. It's also gently downhill in this direction, meaning you hardly have to pedal or can maintain a high pace.

Asphalt Path Along the Loisach River

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Oberau/Eschenlohe – now a fully paved farm track along the Loisach River.
A quiet and pleasant alternative to the busy B2 federal highway.
Access to the cycle path in Oberau is via Flößerstraße-Erlenweg, and in Eschenlohe at the railway crossing.

Kesselberg Ascent from Kochel am See

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

Unfortunately, the Kesselbergstraße (B11) is always extremely busy due to motorized traffic. Anyone who wants to do it on the weekend should do so from the north side, because in that direction the ascent is at least closed to motorcycles. The climb itself is not a serious challenge. With an average of five percent and a maximum of seven percent, you rather pedal up comfortably. In the hairpin bends on the north side, you have a great view of the Kochelsee and the surrounding "flatlands".

One of the most beautiful laps I've driven lately. In the Garmisch area, a lot has happened in terms of cycle path technology. Tipi topi 👌
The only challenge today was the species 'Touri look up in the air', which around noon drove through actions like on the opposite lane and didn't notice it, spontaneous and abrupt braking and looking …

Phew, it was warm today. First from the Großweil commuter parking lot via Gut Schwaiganger into the Loisach Valley, and then mostly along the river south to Garmisch. Almost always excellent bike paths, sometimes briefly through the villages, always with the snow-capped Wetterstein Mountains in sight. Highly recommended. On beautiful back roads through the pretty town center of Partenkirchen.

It was just a training ride. The weather was rather cool, so you only ride when the weather is reasonable.
