Brigerbad Thermal Spa

Highlight • Rest Area

The thermal baths in Brigerbad are the largest open-air and thermal baths that can be found in the Alps. It offers a spacious outdoor area and a recently completely redesigned SPA and wellness oasis. Exactly the right thing to indulge your tired muscles with some relaxation. - If you are no longer willing to pedal one lap on the same day after an extensive relaxation break, there is a campsite with bungalows right next door.

St. Sebastian's Chapel, Brig

Highlight • Religious Site

Sebastian's Chapel, Brig
The Sebastian Chapel was built in 1636/37 by one of the Prismeller Bodmers. The strong influence of Italian models cannot be denied.
The chapel is a tower-like central building with an octagonal layout and a recessed, polygonal choir. The pyramid roof is topped by a lantern. The portal porch is gabled with a ridge turret and is supported by two pairs of columns. On the front side there are niches with late Gothic statues of St. Leodegar and St. Jerome. The statues may have been taken from a previous building.
Inside there is an altarpiece painted by Lorenz Ritz in 1837 with a depiction of St. Sebastians and a city view of Brig.

Stockalper Palace

Highlight • Castle

The Stockalper Palace is perhaps the most imposing palace of the 17th century that can be found in Switzerland. Kaspar Stockalper was the builder and owner of his time, hence the name. He was a comparatively unscrupulous early capitalist of his day, who had no shame in bribing, cheating, and buying or selling anything that promised him any profit. It was the envy of his fellow human beings that at some point drove them to exile him from his estate. - In addition to the moral of the story, the really impressive castle remained, which regularly presents itself from its most beautiful side in the sunset and is clearly worth a photo. Incidentally, the best view of this is from the park in front.

Rosswald Mountain Village

Highlight • Settlement

Rosswald lies on a relatively narrow ridge at 1,800 meters, high above Brig. The paved road ends in the center of the village, around which many chalets nestle. Two restaurants (Parkplatz and Adler) directly in the village and two more just outside (Fleschboden and Bortelhütte) offer stunning views of the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps opposite, inviting visitors to stop for a break before or after their ascent.

As early as the 1950s, this sun-drenched village was made accessible by cable car. The artificial lake just above Rosswald is a popular spot, used in winter for artificial snowmaking on the ski slopes and in summer as a rest area.

Several official mountain bike routes also pass through Rosswald, such as the Valais Panorama Bike (Route 81) and the Rosswald Bike Route 780.

This small artificial pond has been around for about two years. Initially hardly noticed by nature, pure life is now unfolding very nicely here 👍
