A picturesque feature of the park, with exceptional views of the lake and house.

Croome Court

Highlight • Settlement

Croome is an 18th-century mansion surrounded by Capability Brown landscaped gardens and parkland. In WWII it was used as a secret airbase. There's lots to explore in and around the grounds. National Trust membership or a ticket is required for entry to the house and gardens but free to use public footpaths loop the estate.

The walk along the main ridge gives an elevated view across the park with its river. In the distance the Malvern Hills dominate the horizon. There are number magnificent trees along the ridge, as well as some very shapely dead ones.

The Mighty Oak

Highlight • Natural Monument

This beautiful and noble tree has seen better days, but hopefully it will survive for a few more years yet. Unfortunately parts of it got broken off during a particularly violent storm a few years ago, and as a result it is not as stable as it used to be, hence the fence around it.

St Mary Magdalene's Church, Croome

Highlight • Religious Site

The original church at Croome was demolished by the 6th Earl of Coventry in the 1750s, along with the Jacobean house that stood in place of the current mansion. The new house and park, including the new church, was created by Capability Brown. The church itself is set on a hill, with great views out to the Malvern Hills.

Pirton Pool

Highlight • Forest

Pirton Pool is a wonderful lake surrounded by fallow parklands. You may spot deer roaming the green fields, dotted with cedar trees dating back to the mid-18th century. The lake and parklands are especially beautiful in the early morning when sun hits the mist over the water.
