Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, Oberwössen

Our Lady is the patron saint of the Church. It is a new building from 1956/57. This was carried out by the same architect as the Christkönigkirche zu Wildenwart, the church in Rottau and the parish church in Marquartstein - by Georg Berlinger from Munich. In the tower chapel there are still some historical objects from the previous buildings. There are older votive tablets that testify to the popular belief in Our Lady. There is also a remarkable Pietà from 1750. The Rococo Pietà was carved by an artist of the so-called Baumburger School. A special work of art of modern times is the huge mosaic in the parish church, which was put together from 25,000 stones and shows the Seven Sorrows of Mary. By the same artist, Siegfried Moroder, there is also a linden wood sculpture with the Assumption of the Virgin and the mosaic on the outer wall of the church, which shows Saint Leonhard.
