Former Italian border barracks on the Rapallo border. After the Paris Peace Conference, the border treaty of Rapallo (1920) established the border between the Kingdom of Italy and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Barbed wire was laid along the border line and there was an iron gate in the middle of the street.

After World War II and the signing of the Paris Peace Treaties in 1947, the Kastav area was reunited with Croatia and Yugoslavia.
