The view of Merl has something nostalgic about it. The mostly black roofs of the houses convey the impression that everything here is a bit more valuable and lasting. Perhaps I'm reading something into that—it's certainly picturesquely beautiful.

A beautiful walk in spring-like temperatures.☀️ From the Colis Tower there is a great view of the Moselle and Zell. The Colis Tower walk is signposted. You have the option of using a via ferrata that takes you directly to the tower. We used the path around the outside.

We started in Zell. From there, it was a steady climb. We skipped the via ferrata, by the way; we're not that experienced anymore. The path initially led through forests, but once we reached the top, it wasn't far to the Collis Tower with its viewing platform. From here, you have a fantastic view of Zell, the Moselle Valley, and …

Nice tour along the vineyards with a beautiful view of the Moselle

What a glorious day on the Moselle!

Initially, thick fog enveloped the landscape in a truly special atmosphere, then beautiful sunshine, which retreated back into the wintry gray as the day progressed.

Ascent via the Collis Trail, from the Collis viewpoint following the same route as the Moselsteig Trail to Merl.

Through the forest it goes up to the Collisturm. The Collis Tower, built in 1906 from red brick high above the vineyards, offers a wonderful view over the city of Zell (Moselle) and the Moselle valley.

We shortened the circular hiking trail a little and didn't hike further along the Zeller Bach, but hiked the Collis steep path - which includes some shorter climbing passages.

The secret of the "Zeller Schwarze Katz" begins in 1863 when wine merchants were out and about in Zell. After an extensive wine tasting in the winery, three barrels were shortlisted. But one could not really agree which was the best. The winemaker's wife finally came into the cellar, accompanied by a black cat.
Suddenly the cat jumped on one …

Rain in the morning, the most beautiful autumn weather in the afternoon. A hike around the Collis was the order of the day. The fantastic panoramic view of the Moselle could be fully enjoyed again today. If need be, even with a dry Riesling.
