View of Loch Duich

Highlight • Viewpoint

Lovely views back over the waters of Loch Duich, can be pretty eerie at times.

Shiel Bridge is a small settlement at head of Loch Duich. It is often our most popular start point as it gives quick access to remote country on relatively good paths and a plethora of Munros for those seeking a high route.

Register: Kintail Lodge Hotel, 01599 511275, reception@kintaillodgehotel.co.uk. Bunkhouse accommodation also available.

Getting there: Citylink bus from Glasgow Buchan Street station. From Inverness train to Kyle of Lochalsh and bus to Shiel Bridge.

View of Eilean Donan Castle

Highlight • Bridge

The 1986 film "Highlander" with Christopher Lambert made Eilean Donan world famous with his bridge. Actually the scene that takes place there is only very short.
The MacLeod clan sets out for war and rides across the stone bridge, with the walls of the castle rising in the background.
But also James Bond (the world is not enough) and unfortunately only a few seconds and even Bollywood were active here.
