Aschau Bridge in Eschede

Highlight • Bridge

The Aschau 💦 is a stream in the Südheide Nature Park in Lower Saxony, a right tributary of the Lachte, which flows into the Aller. The Aschau rises as the Drellebach in a dry valley that is a good 5 kilometers long and is sunk into the southern slope of the forest-covered Lüß plateau in the Südheide. After 1.8 kilometers, the stream feeds the Loher Teiche, which were artificially created in the 1890s. From the confluence of the almost parallel Daller Bach coming from the left, the stream is called Aschau.

Together with the Aschauteiche, which were created from 1903 onwards, a connected area of around 50 artificially created fish ponds has been created.

Bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Aschau to the outdoor pool or Schützenplatz.

Memorial stone to the storm Quimburga of November 13, 1972

Quimburga is the name of a hurricane that crossed Central and Western Europe on November 13, 1972, causing serious damage to England, Belgium, the Netherlands, and northern Germany, and causing at least 73 deaths; in the clean-up work in the forests, 22 people were killed in Lower Saxony alone. [2] Because of the enormous damage and the numerous casualties, which left this hurricane in Lower Saxony, the event was also called Niedersachsenorkan. Overall, the hurricane in Germany caused property damage of 1.34 billion DM (in today's purchasing power 2.18 billion Euro).

Mega there. Unfortunately the path is very bumpy. However, a mega prospect on both sides.

Loher Teiche

Highlight • Lake

The Loher ponds. Almost a touch of Scandinavia. They arose from the construction of the railway around 1847 and are now among the largest pond areas in Lower Saxony.

Bridge Over the Aschau

Highlight • Bridge

The Aschau is a stream in the Südheide Nature Park, a right-hand tributary of the Lachte, which flows into the Aller.

The Aschau originates as the Drellebach in a dry valley about 5 kilometers long, which is incised into the southern slope of the wooded Lüß plateau in the Südheide. After 1.8 kilometers, the stream feeds the Loher Teiche, which were artificially created in the 1890s. From the confluence with the Daller Bach, which comes from the left and runs almost parallel, the stream is called Aschau.

Together with the Aschauteiche, created from 1903 onwards, a contiguous area of around 50 artificially created fish ponds has emerged.

The organizers in Eschede put together a really nice cycling event. Thanks to everyone who helped with this 👍👍👍
The route wasn't very demanding, but due to the rain the day before, many paths through the wet sand were quite exhausting 👌👍
