Former Thurn und Taxis Hermitage

Highlight • Historical Site

You can also enter this hermitage and look around inside, it's just a shame that there are no further explanations.

When the flag flies on the castle tower, the prince is present. Several architectural styles come together in and around the castle.
The princes of Thurn and Taxis actually come from Italy and were electors - which means they were allowed to "choose" the king and take part in the election of the king.
Two towers and a badger are depicted in the coat of arms. The towers stand for "Thurn", which means tower, the badger in the middle for "Taxis". The two lions in the coat of arms come from Valsassina and were previously eagles as a sign of grace.
The badger in the heart shield is the actual family coat of arms. The towers were added later when attempts were made to gain favor more quickly and investigations were carried out to prove descent from the Milanese della Torre, which was finally confirmed by Emperor Ferdinand III in 1650. and King Philip IV of Spain was confirmed.

Karlsbrunnen Fountain

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Charles Fountain with its fountain is worth a visit. But not necessarily in midsummer, because the well and the ponds next to it are very bad.

The train stop is part of the project of the Bahnfreunde Museumbahn Härtsfeld - Schättere. As learned from previous discussions, the route is to be continued as far as Dischingen. Of course, that depends on how the funds flow through the EU.

Lake Härtsfeld

Highlight • Lake

The path around the lake is largely flat and without any transverse slope, the surfaces alternate between tar, gravel and lawn. The lake has a water surface of approx. 11.5 ha and was built in 1972 as a flood retention basin. Help for a wheelchair user is only necessary in a few sections.
There are several benches by the lake for a little rest.

The originally planned route should have started and ended in Dischingen. Due to "warm" temperatures, the hiking guide decided differently, with a subsequent stop at the Seehaus kiosk on the Härtsfeldsee.
Those who were there were there. It was a fun bunch with interesting topics to talk about. Everyday life doesn't just let go of some on the weekend 😅 …
