Scenic view of Lake Achensee

Highlight • Viewpoint

The emerald green surface can glitter in the sun, and the water's clarity allows you to see up to 10 meters deep, which is something special.
The lake is framed by two mountain ranges - the Rofan Mountains and the Karwendel Nature Park -
like a protective bulwark.

Owl Wood Carving

Highlight • Structure

You can find this beautiful carving at the end of the Gaisalmsteig hike. Or coming from Scholastica, of course, relatively at the beginning.

Ascent to Seekarspitze

Highlight • Climb

The ascent to the Seekarspitze on Lake Achensee is a popular but challenging mountain tour with steep and rocky paths the closer you get to the summit. The tour offers spectacular views of Lake Achensee and the Karwendel Mountains, but is only suitable for experienced mountaineers.

The entire route is around 14 kilometers and you will climb around 1,200 meters in altitude. Especially in summer, you should start early to avoid the midday heat and plan enough breaks. Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential on this route, as some passages are narrow and exposed.

Seekarspitze (2,053 m)

Highlight • Summit

A beautiful vantage point with a panoramic view.
If you like and still have enough stamina, you can cross the ridge to the Seebergspitze.

Seekaralm

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Seekaralm is primarily used for agriculture, secondarily it serves as a place to stop for refreshments. You can get cheese or bacon bread and fresh milk here. With the magnificent view, it tastes twice as good.

*unfortunately we want/have to be sensible today, a cornice blocked our way about 50 meters from the summit cross. It's better to leave Hams alone and wait for spring.🥲 General: Much more snow than expected! ☃️

And of course tracking errors during the climb. Did the hurricane blow away the remaining 300 HM🌬️

Tracked with gaiters. Lots of snow. The mountain pine field under the summit of the Seekarspitze was then absolutely impassable due to the masses of snow and I had to turn back...
