Spring Lake Park Bison Reintroduction Area

Highlight • Natural Monument

Once the predominant grazer of the American grasslands, the Bison is now being reintroduced into its historic habitats. The first group was established here in October of 2022 and the stated goal is to eventually have 500 Bison across the state with no trace of cattle DNA.

Spring Lake Park Reserve

Tucked up against the Mississippi River this park offers a variety of outdoor recreation and leisure options. The trails invite hikers and bikers to explore while the water calls to anglers and kayakers. You'll also find plenty of picnic areas and playground for the kids, as well as a prairie enclosure for the recently re-introduced Bison population.
