European bird sanctuary since 2007, protected area 1938.
Here is a permanent birdcreeper to hear. If that bothers you, you should take a long detour around the lake.
According to "Seen.de":
The Rohrsee is a small, shallow lake in southern Baden-Württemberg. It is located in the municipality of Bad Wurzach in the district of Ravensburg. The lake, which today has a water surface of about 50 hectares, arose from a dead ice hole after the Würme ice age.
The mean lake, which is about 1.2 meters deep today, and its immediate surroundings are an important breeding ground as well as a nationally important wintering area for many, sometimes highly endangered bird species. Altogether more than 200 species of birds have been recorded in the area, more than 80 breed regularly. Particularly noteworthy is the (recently again declining) breeding population of the black-necked grebe, as well as the Wasserralle. Rare species of the black-headed gull have also been detected. Reed warblers, reed warblers and hoop tits breed in the reed and silted shores. In early winter, the water surface is an important resting place for the gadwall and other duck species.
After complete dehydration in 1967, grass carp was introduced into the lake in 1968, gradually destroying the macrophyteous. Since the complete fishing of these fish species towards the end of the 80s, the aquatic plants have been recovering and with it the stock of indigenous fish species such as pike, roach, rudd, perch and tench.
The area around the lake and the lake itself have been designated as a nature reserve since 1938. However, some areas around the lake are still heavily used for agriculture, resulting in significant eutrophication of the shallow lake. Even smaller fish deaths were observed in particularly hot summers.

Saubadtrail

Highlight • Trail

It's really great to ride and at just under 4.3 kilometers it's a reasonable length. The course doesn't get boring even if you ride it several times.
