Shore of Lake Liepnitzsee

Highlight • Lake

An ideal walk with a few resting places for the packed lunch. Around eight kilometers. In the end there is a restaurant for the big hunger. A ferry enables a trip to the island, which you can also walk around.

Liepnitzsee Sandy Beach

Highlight • Beach

Definitely a beautiful and one of the cleanest bathing lakes in Brandenburg! And if sunbathing is too boring for you in the long run, you can take a ferry ride to the island in the lake and treat yourself to some refreshment in the Insulaner Klause.

Lake Liepnitz

Highlight • Lake

The Liepnitzsee is really worth a trip in hot weather. It is a large, idyllic and very clean swimming lake surrounded by forest areas. It is located far north of Berlin, which is why it is not so overcrowded. The best way to get out is by S-Bahn (for example S-Bahn station Bernau) and then along nicely developed bike paths, mostly in the shade of the forest.

There is an island that can be reached by ferry (or by swimming), there is also a garden restaurant, the Insulaner Klause.

Rainbow Lake

Highlight • Lake

The name Rainbow Lake probably comes from the splendid colors of the grasses, bushes and trees of various species that line the wide, marshy shore and, together with the blue of the sky, are reflected on the mirror-smooth surface. The interplay then creates the primary colors of a rainbow.

Lake Liepnitz

Highlight • Lake

The Liepnitzsee is a great lake with very clean water. In summer you can take a ferry to the island of Grosser Werder. There is even a campsite there. In addition, boats can be rented on Liepnitzsee.

The small ferry runs regularly to the southern shore and the Inselklause in the middle of Lake Liepnitz. You can find out the costs and ferry times here liepnitzinsel.de/faehre.php

June 20, 2025,Trailrun: Liepnitzsee (Wandlitz/Brandenburg)
A great running loop around the picturesque Liepnitzsee in the Wandlitz district of Brandenburg.

The route: Exciting trails right by the lake with plenty of root growth, footbridges over swampy terrain, and tough climbs along the terminal moraines of the Weichselian Ice Age (pavement runners should be alert the entire time due to the varied and challenging terrain).

I prefer to do the tour barefoot. you walk past countless bathing spots. it is not so suitable for cycling because of fallen trees. but hiking is also great. have fun !
