Hellenic Parliament Building

King Ludwig I of Bavaria commissioned the building so that his son Otto I and his wife Amalie could move into accommodation in Athens that was appropriate for the royal couple. During a four-year construction phase, the building was built in the neoclassical style by the court architect Friedrich Gärtner from 1834 to 1838. The result was an imposing and at the same time simple-looking ochre-colored building, which stands out not least because of the porch on its main front supported by Doric columns.
The Greek parliament has been meeting in this impressive building since 1935.

From the ferry port in Piraeus along the shore road at the marina past the Piraeus sign on a really long separate bike path to Athens to the sights to the "Field of Mars" park. The heavy rain then sends us unexpectedly and abruptly back to Piraeus
