The Great Moor near Becklingen was declared a nature reserve in 1985. The Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation started restoring the moor in 2006. Today you can observe rare plants and animals here.

From the small 8.44 meter high Heinrich Eggers lookout tower you have a wonderful view of the flat surroundings. Wet moor areas, adjacent meadows and pastures as well as shrubs are already clearly recognizable.
