Mermaid with the Müggelsee Pearl

Highlight • Monument

The mermaid is such a hottie. I proposed to her but she didn't respond.

Kuhle Wampe Workers' Campsite Memorial

Highlight • Historical Site

First I have to correct Hansakeks' mistake: The new Kuhle Wampe campsite is not located on Seddinsee, but at the southern end of the Große Krampe near Krampenburg.
The workers' campground Kuhle Wampe was founded in 1913 by a few enthusiasts who simply wanted to escape the Berlin city smear and wanted to take a cheap holiday in the countryside. At first there were about twenty tents. Ten years later there were already 100 tents and around 300 people spent their holidays there. There was even a bus stop of its own on Müggelheimer Damm. In 1935 the campground was closed, probably also a consequence of the ban on the film of the same name, in which Berthold Brecht also participated. The film was banned by German censors in March 1933.

Even without rain protection, this council area is very suitable for a small picnic when the weather is nice. Over the reed belt you have a beautiful view of the largest lake in Berlin.

Large Müggelsee

Highlight • Lake

The Müggelsee with 7.4 square kilometers is the largest of all Berlin lakes and attracts hundreds of thousands of bathers and walkers every year. From the shore you can watch the colorful hustle and bustle on the lake or rent a boat yourself.
