Bo'ness Harbour

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bo'ness Harbour is located on the scenic Firth of Forth. It was once an important coal-shipping hub which can be seen in its historic remnanets including old stone walls and moorings. It's a great place to sit and enjoy a moment of peace overlooking the beautiful waters.

John Muir Way at Blackness

Highlight • Trail

This trail past Blackness forms part of the John Muir Way (Helensburgh to Dunbar; johnmuirway.org/route) and the National Cycle Route 76 (Berwick Upon Tweed to Kirkaldy - sustrans.org.uk/find-a-route-on-the-national-cycle-network/route-76/). The surface is light gravel so will be fine for most bike types except perhaps racing road bikes in the winter where it might get a bit slippery when wet and muddy.

Linlithgow Palace

Highlight • Castle

The ruins of Linlithgow Palace are situated in the town of Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland, 15 miles (24 km) west of Edinburgh. The palace was one of the principal residences of the monarchs of Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries. Although maintained after Scotland's monarchs left for England in 1603, the palace was little used, and was burned out in 1746. It is now a visitor attraction in the care of Historic Environment Scotland.

Dudley Cat Statue

Highlight • Monument

Dudley was the much-loved cat of Liz Burrows of Linlithgow. He was a rescue cat who had come to her via Lothian Cat Rescue and had been named after the area of Edinburgh where he was found – Duddingston. It was unclear whether he was a lost pet or a stray – it seemed that the former was perhaps more likely as Dudley was not an ordinary moggy. He was identified as an ‘ocicat’ – so named because of the breed’s resemblance to the wild ocelot.
