Today I discovered a whole new world, far from the castles and ponds I am used to. My walk took me to La Louvière, where I explored the Historic Centre Canal and the Cantine des Italiens. Here flows the Canal du Centre, once an essential trade route between the Sambre and the Meuse.

For those who would do this tour in an anti-clockwise direction:
I recommend starting at the Place du Souvenir in Houdeng-Aimeries. And from km10, walk to the left of the canal - and therefore not cross the bridge, unlike me. This will save you the detour through the industrial zone of Strepy-Bracquenies.
