Dalldorf Canal Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The view goes on both sides of the quiet and beautiful canal. If you are lucky, boats are on the way. But even without boats, the channel has something reassuring and invites you to linger.

Witzeeze Lock

Highlight • Bridge

A beautiful old lock system with a charming steel bridge over the canal. Here you feel as if you have been transported back to the founding years of the “Elbe-Trave-Canal”. Engineering from the age of steam and a cozy resting place to linger.

However, there are plans to deepen and widen the canal. Destroying this gem for much larger ships, destroying the attractive natural surroundings and thus killing the many shipping families of smaller canal ships as well as the tourist providers on the canal, I cannot understand. Thank you also, Mr. Federal Minister of Transport ...

Prüßsee, Güster

Highlight • Lake

In the Güster Leisure World, you can swim in the Prüßsee, a lake with drinking water quality. The bathing area is temporarily guarded during the summer holidays.
The beach area with a playground, huge jumping cushion and beach volleyball field is close to the marina and the Seepavillon restaurant, so that you can also have a tasty meal in between. The sanitary facilities of the campsite are open to bathers.

Prüßsee Bathing Island

Highlight • Beach

The bathing area is located at the "Badeinsel Güster / Blaue Lagune" campsite, south of the village center of Güster, on the southern shore of the Prüßsee lake, which was created from former gravel pits and is up to 17 meters deep. An entrance fee must be paid at the "Blaue Lagune" restaurant to enter the bathing area.

The bathing island was artificially built up with sand and offers a real sandy beach feeling in the middle of the Duchy of Lauenburg. The approximately 250-meter-long shore strip is bordered by reed belts, which must not be entered or passed through. The non-swimmer and swimmer areas in the water are separated by a chain.

The large sandy beach offers almost exclusively sunbathing spots.

Near the bathing area, there is a restaurant, and at the campsite, there are toilet and shower facilities.

Stand-up paddling and canoeing are permitted on the lake.

The Elbe-Lübeck Canal was built from the old Stecknitz Canal between 1896 and 1900 in just 4 years and was then considered the most modern waterway in Germany. It was inaugurated in June 1900 by Kaiser Wilhelm II with the name Elbe-Trave-Kanal. Renamed the Elbe-Lübeck Canal in 1921.
The Elbe-Lübeck Canal has a length of 65.5 km and connects the Untertrave near Lübeck with the Elbe near Lauenburg. From Schleswig-Holstein, the canal is the shortest waterway to the Baltic Sea.
The canal has a charming bank landscape with avenues made of poplars and many adjacent lakes e.g. Lanzer See and Möllner See. An idyllic trip with the excursion boat "Lüneburger Heide" from Lauenburg to Mölln and back is therefore recommended.
Because of the damaging waves that could destroy the bank reinforcement, watercraft are only allowed to travel at a speed of 10 km / h.
The canal contains 6 locks on its route.
The Schiffer`s Rast inn with overnight accommodation is located directly at the Witzeeze lock. The large terrace invites you to linger.
The canal has an abundant and species-rich fish population. Of course, this is appreciated by fishing enthusiasts who sit everywhere on the bank to outsmart some of the popular pangolins. Passing ships are popular with anglers here. The suction of the ships stirs up food and the fish begins to eat.
