Szmaragd Inn

In 1783 Ludwig Mohring built a farm with a manor on the site of the Szmaragd inn. At the end of the 19th century, it was inhabited by workers working in a nearby chalk mine. The building was rebuilt and extended many times. Until 2010, it had a restaurant and a small hotel with 20 seats.
Currently, the inn has undergone a major renovation in 2019 and will house the Landscape Parks Complex. However, this institution will be obliged to provide accommodation there (mainly for children and adolescents), a gastronomic offer (for rent to an external entity) and an environmental education base.

A concrete bridge, a remnant of the tracks of a railway transporting spoil from a former chalk and marl mine, operated by the nearby Portland cement factory "Stern" owned by the Toepffer family, established in 1862. In 1925, a sudden overflow of groundwater into the excavation occurred through a layer of permeable sand. The excavation was quickly taking on water. People were evacuated immediately. The excavation was flooded. A lake was created.

Emerald Lake (Jezioro Szmaragdowe)

Szmaragdowe Lake is located on the outskirts of Szczecin, near the Zdroje housing estate. The name comes from the characteristic greenish color of the water, which is due to the high lime content - the lake was created on the site of a former chalk mine. In 1925 the mine was flooded by water - at the bottom of the lake there are supposedly still flooded mining equipment. Narrow-gauge railway wagons, which transported the output from the mine, used to drive on the picturesque concrete bridge on the shore of the lake. The lake is constantly fed by groundwater. Currently, its maximum depth reaches 18 meters.
