Ceunant Mawr Waterfall

Highlight • Viewpoint

Unusually quiet for a waterfall of this calibre. We got there (bottom) and there was nobody, good spot for photos, especially with the sun out shining through the trees. Once at the top you soon realise how big this waterfall is, brilliant gem.

Important Notice*

2022 Destination Clogwyn Station

The destination for the 2022 season is Clogwyn Station which is the 3/4 point on the mountain. The journey time to Clogwyn is approximately 45 minutes and passengers have a 30 minute stop-over at this unsheltered station. The round trip to Clogwyn and back is approximately 2 hours in total, which includes the 30 minute stop-over. Please be aware that there are no facilities at Clogwyn, or on-board the trains.

The summit building, Hafod Eryri, will remain closed for the 2022 season, as there will be no access for service trains or staff, as a result of essential upper mountain track work and will open as normal for 2023. We apologise to any customers who wished to travel to the summit but hope they can still appreciate the fantastic and unique journey up to Clogwyn.

Please note: only registered support dogs are allowed on our trains.

A quite helpful information board with a map of Llanberis - Snowdon's Village/Pentref yr Wyddfa: it shows where the main (tourist) attractions can be found, as well as the position of parkings, toilets, water activities to name but a few useful places.

Llanberis Village and Llyn Padarn

Highlight • Settlement

Llanberis is synonymous with Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It's a popular starting point for some of the easier ways to the roof of Wales. Whether it’s via the Llanberis Path or a ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, thousands of people every year head to the village with the summit in their sights.

Long before it was a draw to tourists and hikers, Llanberis was a slate mining town. The Dinorwig Quarry's slate tips are a stark reminder of the region’s heritage.

The village is blessed with several good outdoor gear shops and characterful places to eat and drink.

Llanberis Lake Railway

Highlight • Structure

Not been on this myself but on a conversation with a member of the public I'm told it's a wonderful journey around to the north side of the lake away from the hustle and bustle of the South side
