The museum in the clouds.
On the Monte Rite, in a fort from the First World War between Valle del Boite and Val di Zoldo (location: ⊙), at an altitude of 2181 meters, is the MMM Dolomites. This museum in the clouds was opened in 2002 [12] and focuses on the vertical world of the Dolomites. It shows the development history of the Dolomites as well as a part of the alpine history and its protagonists. (Source: Wikipedia)

In addition to the museum as such, a fantastic view over the Dolomites can be found.

Monte Rite

Highlight • Summit

The top of Monte Rite, at 2,183 meters above sea level, offers a magnificent panorama of the Dolomites. The trails to get there climb quite a bit, but aren't technical, so running on them is certainly possible.

On the way to the top, you will find a refuge with a lovely garden-terrace where you can enjoy a beer and the famous "Museum in the Clouds". The Messner Mountain Museum, as it is called, is set up inside a fort from the Great War, from whose roof you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of the Dolomites. Access to the roof is free, but there is a fee to enter the museum.

Forcella Deona

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Forcella Deona is located near the summit of Monte Rite. You have a magnificent view of the most famous peaks of the Dolomites. From this point, there are a few circuits you can race. There's a nice loop that leads to the top of Monte Rite, and if you want something longer, you can go down to Forcella di Val Inferna and from there to Passo Cibiana. It's a lot of fun, especially downhill and not technical.

Classic MTB route starting and ending in Forno di Zoldo. Single track still a bit wet on the North, good other sides.

The planned way back from Passo Cibiana was a disaster. The path ended in nowhere. Afterwards I was able to fight my way back to the road over felled trees. But seen a cervo not 50 m.

It starts from Forno di Zoldo and goes along the entire state road up to Forcella Cibiana. Then take the road (partly unpaved and partly paved) that goes up to Mount Rite arriving right on the summit (extraordinary views).
Then take the ridge following the signs and go back to the Deona fork you have already reached. Here you take …

Above the roof of the highest museum in Europe, it ranges from Ampezzo, to Centro Cadore, up to Val Zoldana. The main massifs of the Dolomites are just a step away from Pelmo, Antelao, Sorapriss, Civetta and Moiazza and others can be seen a little further away: Tofane, Cristallo, Marmolada, Peralba. The summit crest of the mountain consists of a …
