Church of the Assumption of Mary (Hum)

Medieval walls and classicist symmetry on the outside, baroque treasure chest on the inside - the single-nave parish church of the Assumption of Mary (Marijino Uznesenje) combines charming contrasts from several centuries. Although it was built on the foundations of a church from the 13th century in 1802, i.e. during the Classicism era, it is often referred to in travel guides as a baroque church, probably because of its "interior" with the five lavishly decorated marble altars and the beautiful sacristy and the precious paintings - the apse painting by the Venetian painter Baldessare d'Anna from the year 1600, which gave the church its name: “Assumption of Mary”, deserves a special mention. (In the 16th and 17th centuries, Hum was under Venetian rule)
