Chapelle des Templiers

Highlight • Other

This Romanesque church built at the end of the 12th century belonged to the Knights of Malta, successors of the Templars. It was once the central element of the Commandery of the Templars. This estate also had a manor house, the Plessard mill, cultivated land and a cemetery.

Temple of Friendship

Highlight • Religious Site

Historic Monument, the Temple of Friendship was erected on the hillside of St Gilles, between 1812 and 1824. It owes its name to the friendship that unites François and Pierre Cacault with the sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot, initiators and creators of architecture Italianate of Clisson at the beginning of the 19th century. Pierre Cacault wanted to erect a mausoleum in memory of his brother François who died in Clisson on October 10, 1805 but, not having sufficient financial means, it was Lemot who would finance the project. Pierre will die in 1810. Ultimately, the tombs of the two brothers will not be made, because the Cacault heirs did not authorize the transfer of their ashes to the mausoleum. François-Frédéric Lemot will be buried in this tomb on May 18, 1827.

Château de Clisson

Highlight • Castle

This medieval castle which has gone through a lot of torments and whose traces are still visible today. It is a feat that he still proudly dominates the city after all that Men have done to destroy him.

Notre-Dame Church, Clisson

Highlight • Other

19th century church built on an old collegiate church. Obviously built in the Italian style, with in particular a very "Tuscan" campanile in mind. The square is also pretty and also overlooks Les Halles, a splendid wooden market dating from the 14th century.

Beau Soleil natural site

Highlight • Lake

Beautiful pond surrounded by magnificent trees. Plenty of benches that encourage rest or contemplation. A welcome little patch of greenery after crossing the vineyard in the full sun. A trail allows you to go around the natural site, but I didn't have time to try it. Note that the path that connects La Fauvette to La Pontereau is very smooth and magnificent.
