After the neo-Gothic town fountain was demolished in 1965 to make way for car traffic along Reichenstrasse, the Füssen sculptor Alois Vogler created this new fountain. The figure of Magnus was cast in bronze and placed on the column from the Fichtel Mountains. The fountain was officially inaugurated on St. Magnus' Day, September 6, 1968.
