Access with toilet, waste separation and infomateral to the park.
Hamra National Park is located in the municipality of Ljusdal in Orsa Finnmark. With its size of only 28 hectares, it was the smallest national park in Sweden, which has now been expanded to 1383 hectares. It is located in the middle of an intensively cultivated area and forms a small, untouched oasis. The park is located on two flat moraine hills by the small lake Näckrostjärnen. A circular path leads through the park, which is laid on wooden planks in the more swampy sections.

Fast facts

Flora and fauna

Original coniferous forest stretches across almost the entire area of the park. The oldest spruce trees in the stand are up to 300 years old and are partially covered by thick lichen growth. Over 450 different species of insects and beetles have been found in the park.

Despite the jungle-like landscape, the paths through the national park are very well signposted. But it goes over roots and stones; use sturdy shoes.

Highlight • Rest Area

Great barbecue or picnic area. There are two places (benches or seats) at the front near the information point and one a little further into the park. Wood is available. Super clean... 😃👍

July 24, 2024,Hamra Nationalpark (Summer)
During a relaxed evening walk in a little drizzle, we explored the northern part of the Hamra National Park. It was somehow exciting to walk alone through the "Urskogen" and at least theoretically come across a bear. I would love to have an experience like that, of course at a safe distance. The moorland is incredibly quiet, only a bird …

Finally went to Hamra! Everything here feels old and full of stories. The forest is so thick and beautiful, the trees whisper you secrets. Stunning.
We did at the main entrace the 2 loups. The one through the old forest was just.. the best. So beautiful! The other one was nice too but more through the moor on the wooden …
Primeval forest in a moor landscape....this is how this national park is described. It was founded in 1909. The oldest part of the park is said to have never seen an ax or chainsaw. Almost half consists of bog, where cotton grass is currently blooming. A small part of the trail was closed for repairs, but that didn't detract from …
