Friendly (authentic-looking) small, managed alpine pasture. Here you can get fresh buttermilk and other drinks and a gentleman in traditional costumes plays harp music.

September 13, 2021,Um den Hintersteiner See über Walleralm – Steiner Hochalm Runde von Schiestl-Ried
This very beautiful hike led us around the Hintersteiner See. But the Jägersteig that leads from the Walleralm to the Steiner Hochalm is a bit of a challenge. Dog owners should urgently plan water for the dogs as there is no stream crossing here. Good footwear is essential.

But experts are currently making them accessible again 🪓🔨🧹🪚

This route was recommended by our host and we are really happy with it. The weather forecast was constantly changing, even changing several times during the day. However, it was clear that visibility was rather unlikely, as was the likelihood of catching a glimpse of the mountain peaks. Since you're more likely to look down into the valley at the …

In my opinion, the Jägersteig is only for sure-footed hikers who are not afraid of heights and who are in good shape. It goes over several scree fields, the path is a constant up and down over roots and stones. At the moment there have been several avalanches and storm damage that make the path more difficult (fallen trees...)
