Mariahilfberg Pilgrimage Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The ascent from Gutenstein is tough (3 km) but paved. On the way back, you can take the Wurzelweg (root path).
Mariahilfberg has developed into a popular pilgrimage site since 1661 due to an alleged Marian apparition. The monastery has been run by the Servites since 1672. The current building was erected after the previous building burned down in 1724 at the instigation of Count Hoyos (see Hoyos Castle in Gutenstein).
An inn and several stalls selling devotional items complete the complex.

About root path is best to walk from Gutenstein on the Mariahilfweg. Beautiful hike through the forest with plenty of rest options along the way.

Taborweg Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

When traveling by train the Taborweg is recommended to get to the center of Gutenstein. At the Tabor is a well of the water works Guttenstein and a rest area.
In winter, the ascent from the station to the rest area is cleared. The descent to Gutenstein should not be a problem even in snowy conditions as long as the path is not frozen.
