The (rebuilt in 1987) standard mill that looks out over the Galgewater here was originally at another location in the city.
In 1619, owner Jan Janzsoon Put moved his mill to this location at the Galgewater. He hoped to profit more from the westerly wind here.

Mors goes back to the word 'morass'. The western part of Leiden used to be a swampy pasture. When the Morspoort was completed in 1611, it was the most logical name for the gate. It was always staffed with guards and was part of a defensive wall that enclosed suffering. The dome of the Morspoort served for some time as a prison. I actually wanted to go for a long walk. Rain doubt doubt. So it was a day of culture and this famous Leiden tour. Tour through all the parks within the canal. Past various museums such as the Hortus and Wereldmuseum as it is now called. Past Rembrandt. Nice city tour.

Lovely walk around the city centre of Leiden via the canals. A bit drizzly weather, but that doesn't spoil the fun.

The Leidse Singelpark route is varied and fun. During our visit to the Hortus we took a break from Komoot.

For this walk I needed quite a bit more time than I had estimated in advance. There was so much to see...highly recommended, this route!

The shoes fit very well, but it's a pity that the double-folded sock feeling under my right foot does not diminish. Wondering …

To compensate for the missed kilometers of the not run stage of the Roman Limespad, a Singelpark run. This round of Leidse Singel is now famous and infamous in the region.

Being a tourist in your own city today. Took too many beautiful photos to make a choice. A detour past the Hortus Botanicus yields beautiful pictures. It is alternately …
