At an altitude of 400 m, Dieulefit is a tourist and climatic resort which owes its hours of glory to the pottery closely linked to the region. A kaolinite quarry at the bottom of the valley is at the origin of the grouping of potters from the 3ᵉ century. This pottery activity continued over time to reach its peak in the 19ᵉ century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the introduction of new materials led to a change in habits and the Dieulefitoise pottery for domestic use was gradually replaced by tableware.
