Saale Riverside Trail near Drognitz

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This romantic riverside path is highly recommended.
In fact, you do need to be sure-footed in some places and a little climbing is also necessary - but it's doable 💪🏻

July 25, 2024,Vom Campingplatz Portenschmiede zum Drachenschwanz
Today's hike begins near the Portenschmiede campsite near
Wilhelmsdorf. A beautiful riverside path to the hairpin bend.
From there, uphill until we reach the edge of the forest or field. The highlight was the Bock rock with a
magnificent view of the Saale. We soon continued downhill again to the very tip of the Drachenschwanz, the last few meters through …

Beautiful hike to the Bockfelsen lookout point. Wonderful viewpoint. Then we continued to the Drachenschwanz, where you really have to fight your way through bushes and so on. The way back was simply brilliant, the path along the water, but you should wear sturdy shoes and not be afraid of heights. Otherwise a hike for everyone. A successful day.

Used the 🌞 day and made a fantastic hike at the Hohenwartetalsperre, more precisely a round to the magnificent Bockfelsen. Our tour started at the Portenschmiede campsite. The paths mostly lead along with a view of the water. In between there are always narrow passages that require a bit of concentration. Highly recommended round with many beautiful views.

Mega beautiful hike from the Portenschmiede campsite (5 euros daily fee/parking fee, not payable in cash) to the Bockfelsen and to the Drachenschwanzspitze. Dream views of the Hohenwarte reservoir and the campsite opposite. The way back was via a very romantic, but also very narrow path (surefootedness required) back to the starting point. There couldn't be a nicer birthday present …

Nice little round at the Hohenwartetalsperre 😉
On the way back you have to be very careful, narrow path with a lot of leaves and nice and steep down 🤪

Showing Translation

You have to be lucky: in the most beautiful November hiking weather, a great little round with fantastic views, a variety of surfaces, pure nature and some altitude.
Why look into the distance....

Showing Translation

Nice tour, even if we didn't walk on water :-)

Showing Translation

The route via Google Maps initially sent us to the wrong side of the lake. However, we were able to cross quickly and easily on the ferry. At the campsite, we asked if we could park in a space outside the barrier, which we were allowed to do. The path itself, especially along the lake, requires surefootedness and sturdy footwear. …
