The landmark of Bad Frankenhausen was structurally completed in 1975. The residents immediately took it into their hearts and affectionately named it the “elephant toilet”.

A mud fight in continuous rain. The main thing was to persevere and arrive, which wasn't that easy given the weather conditions. Some pushing passages and muddy bike, even the circuit has failed. But kudos to the catering stations who kept a bucket of water with a brush ready. Was tough, but was fun. I'd love to come back next …

So, this year I finally managed to complete the route in under 2 hours, of course in perfect weather conditions. I reached the finish line in 1h 53min - but grandpa probably won't be able to top that next year 🤷😉

After last year was a mud fight, this year the weather is perfect with 24 degrees. What more could you want?
The church in Bad Frankenhausen is the most crooked church in Germany, even more crooked than the Tower of Pisa ☝🏻

43rd Kyffhäuserberg run + race from 42 km marathon, walking to MTB, everything is included. Very beautiful landscape and the area very super. There is a lot to discover here. A visit to the Kyffhäuser, Barbarossahöhle and the city of Bad Frankenhausen is a very good recommendation. Just ask Google.

Kyffhäuser Berglauf 42 km 🚀
why it only counted 39 🤷🏼‍♂️.
short-term decision...
it was awesome 💯
2 hours without thinking & orientation just following the signs,
lovely 😍💯🚴‍♂️

the first 30km were almost only strength-endurance pushing, (not my thing🥴)
afterwards awesome forest trails and descents, there he feels comfortable 🔥

Goal under 2h reached,
I'm satisfied 🥳

In adverse conditions, 6 degrees, muddy, deep trails... wet from above and below 😅 drove the Kyffhäuser Bergmarathon... unfortunately had to push a lot, sometimes just no grip. Definitely worth a tour when the weather is better, beautiful corner, the Kyffhäuser Mountains!

Unfortunately, the data is completely wrong.

According to kyffhaeuser-berglauf.de it was this route: komoot.com/de-de/tour/320879797 (finish time: 01:39:01.8)

Unfortunately, I started recording too late when I noticed that the timer wasn't running. I thought the Garmin Power Guide would do this automatically as soon as you start it -> no luck. It didn't help me either, as my performance was always …

For a few years I did the 22km round and this year I did the 42km course for the 2nd time at the 45th Int. Kyffhäuser MTB race contested. Despite constant rain at 5 degrees, mud and slippery clay, it went better than expected. I wasn't able to improve, but I got through without a fall. No wind, temperatures above …
