Hillhead Primary School

Completed in 2011, Hillhead Primary School is a building that mediates between the park and the surrounding urban context. Using the complex levels of the site, a new plinth to Gibson Street forms a datum beneath which car parking and servicing are contained. The plinth is topped with an ‘urban box’ accommodating the dining and games halls which have the dual purpose of serving the school and community. Set back from the building line this urban box creates a civic square with a clock tower.
