Rother's Mills (Młyny Rothera)

Highlight • Historical Site

The construction of the Rother Mills (named after the Prussian Minister of Agriculture Christin von Rother) began in 1846. After the construction was completed, a complex of buildings was created, which included: a production building with a grain warehouse, a boiler room and a machine room with a chimney, flour granary, pumping station (turbine house) and fish ladders. They were the largest facilities of this type in Bydgoszcz. Currently, the facility is subject to comprehensive revitalization, after which it will be a place developed for cultural activities and the promotion of achievements of science and technology.

Opera Nova

Highlight • Monument

Opera Nova is an opera theater founded in 1954, which also functions as a musical theater. It is the only opera stage in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The traditions of staging theatrical and musical performances in Bydgoszcz date back to 1623. The opera house is built of three circles and was specially designed for the needs of opera, ballet and musical performances. The performance hall is shaped like an amphitheater and seats 803 spectators. It is a building towering over the bend of the Brda River, where you can admire its reflection.

The sculpture was unveiled on May 1, 2004, on the day Poland joined the European Union. It shows a man crossing the river on a rope, holding a pole in one hand and an arrow in the other. On his shoulder he carries Roman sandals - identical to those worn by the Bydgoszcz "Łuczniczka". There is a swallow under the rope.
