Gorge Entrance

Highlight • Gorge

The Kourtaliotiko Gorge (Greek: Φαράγγι Κουρταλιώτικος) is one of the most spectacular gorges in Crete and a must-see for nature lovers, hikers, and adventurers. Here, the Megalopotamos river plunges through narrow rock walls, forming waterfalls and creating a tropical-looking valley with palm trees, fig trees, and a wild, romantic landscape.

Magic Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

One of my most beautiful experiences! The highlight is going into the cold water (approx. 10 degrees) and swimming to the waterfall ♥️♥️♥️ You should get there early though, not recommended in high season

Kourtaliotiko Gorge Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

There is an old and a new staircase. If you want to go into the waterfall you should take the old stairs. If you just want to look, I would take the new one. I did both what I can recommend. Even if swimming in the waterfall through the cold water is really not without it, you will be richly rewarded

We owe the two exciting micro-adventure destinations of our Crete vacation today to our kids' wishes and suggestions!
👧🏻👏🏽🧑🏼

First, we headed to the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, which was already very impressive during the drive. After finding a free parking space, we descended the many steps into the gorge (entrance fee €5 per person), where we first admired the impressive waterfall …

A tour consisting solely of stairs, upstairs, downstairs, and much more isn't foreseeable. On top of that, today there was an extremely strong wind, making it almost impossible to stay there for long. The swimming pool, so beautifully described, is only for extreme sportsmen; at 14 degrees, no one would let me in voluntarily.

Today we took a detour to the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, we only noticed it because there were numerous cars parked on the side of the road on our way home yesterday...we did the same this morning and felt like we were the first ones. We hiked to the upper and lower entry points of the actual gorge. The main attraction at …

The gorge was truly beautiful... even though it's been artificially enhanced, they did a fantastic job 👍 In summer it costs €5, which is also okay... Unfortunately, you can't cross the river anymore, so the tour was a bit short... oh well, then it's off to the beach 😄🌞👍
